Three years ago, Ukraine launched the Unified Register of Persons Missing Under Special Circumstances

It was created to systematize information about people who went missing during war, hostilities, temporary occupation, or emergencies, as well as to strengthen coordination among government agencies involved in the search.

For families searching for their loved ones, this is an important tool for obtaining official information. It helps record data, manage it within a unified system, and provide official confirmation of the presence or absence of information about a person.

Today, a request for an extract from the Registry can be submitted online via the “Single Window” government service. This allows everything to be done remotely: without queues, mailings, or in-person visits to the agency.

The completed extract is available in your personal account for viewing and downloading. The service is free of charge.

During this time, digital capabilities for searching for and identifying people have continued to evolve. In particular, the “Single Window” portal has launched the “Tattoo Recognition” service, which helps relatives view sketches of tattoos of unidentified individuals and notify investigators if they recognize a distinctive feature.

The technological implementation of these solutions is provided by the team at the State Enterprise “INFOTECH” in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

For us, this is not just about working with data or digital services. It is about tools that help the state act faster and help families get answers in the most difficult circumstances of life.
